Southend Pier

Extending 1.34 miles into the Thames Estuary, Southend Pier is the longest pleasure pier in the world. It was ravaged by a fire in October 2005 and was partly reopened in December of the same year. Reconstruction is still underway. Photographed in Summer 2005.
